Caller ID restrictions

To combat the growing number of scam calls, some countries have implemented Caller ID restrictions and will not allow calls from abroad with a national Caller ID. Eg. a country might block calls or strip the Caller ID for calls originating outside their country, showing Caller ID from that country.

To our knowledge, these countries have implemented restrictions:

  • France.
  • Germany. Does however not apply when using Redspots SIP Trunks!
  • Malta (announced but not yet confirmed).

Redspot's calls originate from Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Norway and thus should not result in any problems showing national Caller ID for those countries, even if they may have implemented Caller ID restrictions.

Workarounds

If you need to display a national number when calling a country with Caller ID restrictions, you have the following options:

  • Show a non national number.
  • Use a national service provider for natianal calls and adapt your dialplan to use the national provider for national calls and Redspot for all other calls.

Displaying non EU Caller ID when calling EU numbers

Please note that displaying non EU Caller ID when calling EU numbers, Origin Based Rating (OBR) applies, which can result in signifficantly higher call rates. Check your plans terms of service for details.

Any Caller ID restrictions are beyond Redspot's control and Redspot can not be held responsible in any way.
